Alcelaphus buselaphus -- AKA, Hartebeest. Strong and fast enough, awkward appearing yet solid build, unique markings, herbivore, watchful, high endurance, non-aggressive, vigorous defenders, sticks to a small herd... As an avatar, a Red Hartebeest suits me pretty well. The Chinese figure is supposed to represent determination, not sure if it is accurate. The background texture is composed of pieces of older illustrations - the clothing and such.

An otter girl, a quick sketch on 9x12 bristol for the Anthrocon 2006 art show. I actually had fun doing this one, it wasn't meant to be perfect or flawless but just fun and a little break from building stress..and it certainly achieved that. Yes I am putting a lot of my pencil work in my scraps..not because I view them as scraps but because sometimes the work I secretly love I like to hide away where less scrutinizing eyes are likely to see. I am not perfect and sometimes all the criticism I get on some pieces actually gets me quite down..seems silly but sometimes I still feel quite small in the big ocean of deviant.. Plus I actually value the comments and faves I receive on my scraps more than on my deviations..its simple..you actually took the time to look at all the art I do..and I am humbled and honored by that. A present for my classmate's 17 years old brother. He's got serious problems with health for more than a year already - sarcoma on the heart... All this time the boy managed to be optimistic and keep his belief in his recovery, he also was (and is) supporting his family... And he's getting better and better! Chemistry helps ) And I do believe, that everything will be ok )) So.. Let the gryphon, as a symbol of strength, confidence in one's powers and victory guide his way. Nothing will happen to me, but someone out there will be pleased.. Good luck to you, Levon )
